John Schroeder Nashua North (NH) Cross-Country Running and Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field John was the 2005 cross-country Class L and state champion, and in the winter John broke a 20-year state record in the 1,500 by seven seconds. At one point or another during the winter John had the best times in the 1,000 and 1,500 in the nation.
McKinley Curro Souhegan (NH) Lacrosse McKinley is an intense, athletic, and skilled lacrosse player who will be playing Division 1 college lacrosse for Boston University next year, one of the top 10 programs in the country.
Rich Lapham Souhegan Football Rich will be taking his athleticism and his 6’ 9”, 315-pound frame to Boston College to play offensive line for one of the premier Division 1 football teams in the country.
Sean Jellison Souhegan (NH) Football Sean, a running back for the Sabers, graduates with three state records: most touchdowns in a career (103), most rushing yards (5,890), and most touchdowns in a season (41). Sean will be playing Division 1-AA football for the University of New Hampshire next year.
Steve Boyle Pinkerton Academy (NH) Lacrosse Steve is taking his ankle-breaking quickness, fantastic vision, and hypnotic stick-skills to Johns Hopkins University. In the Under Armour All-American Lacrosse Classic, which spotlights the best players coming out of high school, Steve had two goals and an assist and was referenced to as one of five players who will make an immediate impact at the next level.
Tyler Roche Manchester Central (NH) Basketball Six-foot seven Tyler, the best basketball player in New Hampshire, will be shooting his silky-smooth jumper in significant minutes for Boston College next year. His God-given abilities and unbelievable work ethic all but ensure that he’ll continue to improve as a player in one of the toughest, most athletic conferences in the country.
06.20.06 Boys LacrosseSteve Boyle of Pinkerton Academy was named the Union Leader Athlete of the Month. Boyle, who is the only three-time high school All-American in the history of New Hampshire lacrosse, led his squad to a 9-0 record in May and a Division I state championship. In that time, the senior scored 20 goals and assisted on 34 other Pinkerton markers. 06.17.06 Track & FieldSalem High's Bob Liekweg won the 50th New Hampshire High School decathlon and Exeter High's Megan Donohue earned top status in the 30th heptathlon. Liekweg finished first overall with 6,009 points, Lebanon High's Anthony Vorachak took second with 5,989. In the heptathlon, Donohue capped her scoring at 3,971, Bree Robinson of Pinkerton Academy claimed second with 3, 774. 06.13.06 BaseballManchester Memorial slipped past Bishop Guertin, 5-4, to claim the Class L championship. Tyler Beaudet picked up the win in relief, surrendering one hit, striking out five and walking one over four innings of work. Memorial had a four-run first inning with RBI singles from Matt Skeffington, Jay Freethey and Wes Cotnoir. Tom Burke took a pitch in the left thigh with the bases loaded, forcing home the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
Lisbon ran past Lin-Wood, 11-2, to capture the Class S championship. Tom Hartwell went the distance for Lisbon, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out nine. At the plate Hartwell contributed a 2-run double in the first and drove home two more in the second. Tom White scored three runs, Jeremy Dodge and Corey McKean scored twice and Chris Hunt drove home two runs for the Panthers. 06.12.06 BaseballCampbell edged Newmarket, 3-2, to win the Class M championship. Nick Macrigeanis had the game-winning two-out single in the bottom of the seventh for the Cougars. Winning pitcher Sean Moreau struck out five while allowing six hits. Ben Moreau and Dan Taschereau scored for the win.
Con-Val defeated Kennett, 5-3, to capture the Class I championship. Ross Davis pitched the final three innings to pick up the win for Con-Val, walking none and striking out four.
