12.23.05 Girls Basketball

Essex won 74-51 over Burlington. Evan Librizzi scored 22 points and had 16 rebounds to lead Essex. Cait Teegarden finished with 18 points while Kate Cioffi scored 12 points and had eight rebounds for the Hornets.

South Burlington beat Colchester, 49-19. Kelsey Beynnon tallied 14 points and Katherine Welch scored 12 for SBHS.

Enosburg beat Winooski, 57-54. Alexa Johnson led Enosburg with 23 points. Kellie Kennison added 14 points and Lindsey Larivee contributed 10 for the winners.

Rice topped North Country, 68-53. Kelli Hier tallied 29 points and 10 rebounds to lead Rice. Katie Dorey chipped in 11 points for the Green Knights.

Champlain Valley defeated Spaulding, 56-44. Katie Lavalette poured in 20 points to power CVU. Rachel Salvatori added 13 points and eight rebounds for the winners.

12.23.05 Boys Basketball

Middlebury beat Milton, 59-39. Justin Waag recorded 14 points and Tim Bolger added 10 for Middlebury.

Oxbow won 60-57 over Woodstock. Jordan Hodge scored 19 points to lead Oxbow. Dan McKelvey added 13, Chad Claflin had 12 and Jeremy Hatch chipped in 11 for the Olympians.

Mount Abraham defeated Otter Valley, 41-36. Kevin Labas scored 14 points and Jordan Estey added 10 for Mt. Abe.

12.23.05 Boys Hockey

Colchester topped South Burlington, 3-1. Tyler Demasi scored twice and Josh Thibault contributed one goal for CHS. Jake Esbjerg made 19 saves.

BFA-St. Albans edged Spaulding, 7-6, in overtime. Mark Collins scored three times and had an assist to lead BFA. R.J. Branon added two goals and Bud Handy and Ian Toof had one each for the Bobwhites. Robbie Lussier had 26 saves.

Champlain Valley shutout Rice, 6-0. Kevin Ford and Matt Greene each scored twice to lead CVU. Tim Reichert and Tautvydas Shalna also scored for the Redhawks.

North Country defeated Burr and Burton, 4-1. Connor Donnelly scored two goals and Ryan Coulter had three assists for North Country. Adam Flynn and Tyler Perkins also scored.

Middlebury defeated Peoples, 3-1. Chris White scored twice and John Grohs scored once for Middlebury. Pete Cummings, Tim Funk and PJ Lalonde had assists and Taylor Ryan made 10 saves.

12.23.05 Girls Hockey

BFA-St. Albans defeated Spaulding, 3-1. Caitlin Manahan tallied a goal and an assist for BFA. Hillary Berno and Mariah Branon also scored for the Comets and Meagan Fitzgerald had 14 saves.

Colchester outscored Montpelier, 6-2. Chelsea Furlani scored four goals and chipped in an assist to pace CHS. Katie Fitzgerald and Jamie Woodward also scored for the Lakers.

Champlain Valley shutout Missisquoi, 5-0. Eliza Bradley tallied a hat trick to lead CVU. Lily Kielman had a goal and an assist, Kara Robinson added a goal and Nicole Bonneau made 21 saves for the Redhawks.

Burlington topped Rutland, 7-1. Hollie Wilson and McKenna Hayes each had two goals and an assist to lead Burlington. Maggie DiMasi added two goals and Heather Fisher also tallied for the Seahorses.

U-32 beat Rice, 8-2. Erin Fitzsimmons led U-32 with five goals. Hannah Parker, Ally Kane and Katie Joly also scored for the Raiders and Ali Freeman made 13 saves.
