10.31.05 Field Hockey

Chelsea Jipner scored both goals as Mt. Abraham came from behind to capture the Division II field hockey title, beating Mt. Mansfield 2-1. Julia Smith scored MMU's lone goal.

10.31.05 Girls Soccer

Seventh-seeded Peoples edged BFA-Fairfax 1-0. Lydia Bickford and Taylor Rousselle assisted Kelsey Bourne on the game-winner late in the first-half.

MSJ blanked Enosburg 3-0. Two goals from Katherine Daley led the Mounties past Enosburg. Alex Marcell scored the third goal and assited on both of Daley's goals. Kendra Gleason had 10 saves for Enosburg in a losing effort.

Thetford beat Stowe (3-1 on PKs). Kristin Ely's goal put Stowe on the board, but Chelsea Williams scored the equalizer. Claire Frances stopped 13 shots for Stowe.

10.29.05 Football

Otter Valley slipped past Mount Mansfield 20-19: Corey Robinson hit Kenny Parsons on a fourth-and-goal pass from the 2-yard line and Kyle Pinkham kicked the extra point. In overtime, Ben Boileau scored on an 8-yard run. Greg Pinette also scored for OV.

Montpelier 32, Winooski 7: Alex Hight put MHS ahead with a touchdown run. Winooski's Colin Thompson ran 70 yards for a touchdown.

Mount Abraham 13, U-32 8: Quarterback Dean Butler threw the gamewinning touchdown to Devin Wendel. Brendan Hoag scored the first TD for Mount Abraham. U-32's quarterback Ethan Sylvain hit Rob Keene for their only touchdown.

St. Johnsbury 26, Lyndon 0: SJA's Corey Matthews, who rushed for 152 yards on 32 carries, opened the scoring with a 2-yard TD run in the second quarter. Van Ryan Belanger threw a pass to Matt Racenet.

Spaulding 28, North Country 20: Justin Rouleau and Noah Lowry each collected over 100 yards rushing. Rouleau and Brian Sykes scored for Spaulding. North Country's Tom Bouffard also scored.

10.29.05 Girls Soccer

Colchester defeated South Burlington 2-1: Kristen Schmidt scored with 30 seconds remaining in the first sudden-death overtime to give fourth-seeded Colchester the win. Colchester's Katie Bilodeau converted a Shelby Solomon assist. South Burlington countered when Maria Hunton scored off a pass by Alison Mercier. Kacie Aubin made five stops for Colchester.

Montpelier 1, Mount Abraham 1 (Montpelier wins 3-1 on PKs): The Solons got penalty-kick goals from Zeljana Varga, Emily Hassard and Kelli Aja and a big save from Kendra Dowen to post a quarterfinal win against Mount Abraham.

Woodstock 1, Milton 0: Sarah Lensing poked in the game's only goal midway through the first half. Kirsten Murphy came up with 11 saves for the Wasps. Ashleigh Adams racked up 14 saves for the Yellowjackets.

Mill River 2, Stratton Mountain 0: Mill River's Courtney Chadburn knocked in one goal and set one up for Kari Brown. Audrey Furneaux andCaitlin Ketcham combined for six saves for Mill River .

Northfield 1, Windsor 0, 4OT: Amy Triano scored an unassisted goal with three minutes left in the fourth overtime for Northfield Jordan Edson stopped three shots for NHS.

Champlain Valley beat BFA- St. Albans 1-0: CVU's Emily Milbank knocked a shot off a BFA-St. Albans defender and into the goal for the only score of the game.
