11.04.06 Boys Soccer

Champlain Valley 2, South Burlington 1: CVU won its fifth straight DI boys soccer championship. Tyler Macnee tallied a pair of goals to power the Redhawks. Alex Davidson scored for SBHS.

U-32 2, Milton 1: U-32 won the DII boys soccer title. Dan Whitney and Eric Root scored for U-32. Ben Bergeron tallied for Milton.

11.04.06 Girls Soccer

Champlain Valley 3, Rutland 0: CVU claimed its second DI championship in two years. Joanie Gentile, Katherine Goller (two assists) and Katy Shaw scored for the Redhawks. Goalie Lindsey Volk earned the shutout with nine saves.

Vergennes 2, Montpelier 1: Vergennes clamed the DII title to cap a perfect 18-0-0 season. Abby Benton scored both goals for the Commodores. Zeljana Farga tallied for Montpelier.

11.03.06 Football

Burlington 28, St. Johnsbury 0: Andrew Plumley rushed for 248 yards and four touchdowns to lead BHS. Plumley credited his offensive line of center David Cooper, guards Richard Paquette and Woody Orr and tackles Justin Leombruno and Leland King for wearing down the Hilltoppers.

Colchester 43, Windsor 14: Jamie Mumley had touchdown runs of 30 and 13 yards, and also caught an 8-yard scoring pass from Bryan Johnson. Ryan Miller scored on runs of 17 and 9 yards. He finished with 187 yards on 19 carries.

Rutland 35, Brattleboro 14: Derrick Webb ran for scores of 5 and 14 yards, amassing 81 of his 101 yards (on 26 carries) after halftime. Matt Littler had the tying score on a 5-yard run and Ryan Corey sealed the victory with TD runs of 61 and 1 yard.

10.28.06 Football

Burlington 27, BFA-St. Albans 0: Riley Lessor scored three touchdowns to lead the Seahorses. Travis Hunt finished the scoring for the Seahorses with a 29-yard scoring run with 2:50 left. Running back Andrew Plumley went over 2,000 yard rushing for the season.

10.28.06 Field Hockey

South Burlington 3, Colchester 0: SBHS captured its second consecutive D-I state title. Alyssa Crews, Ashley Moirano and Gillian Mann provided the goals for the Rebels. Becca Shaw made two saves for the shutout.

Mount Abraham 2, Springfield 0: Mt. Abe won their fifth straight field hockey D-II championship title.
Mesa Dobek and Jade Dingler scored for the Eagles. Amanda Shaw had an assist and keeper Samantha Flint earned the shutout.
